In the midst of the advertisement sales campaign, our community suffered catastrophic flooding that cut off our fresh water supply for five days and brought commerce to a halt. Despite the fact that Michael's hotel had no running water and our members were dealing with flood issues and the financial impact of business interruption, he persevered. Although these problems undoubtedly made Michael's job much more difficult, he seemed to relish the challenge! In the end, he sold a record number of ads and dollar volume. My goal when we started this was to deliver a Chamber magazine/directory with the basic information (demographics, etc.) along with compelling articles and photos that would appeal to our readers. I believe we have met that goal and would put our magazine up against any other Chamber publication in California in terms of quality and content. Michael Holmes recently completed the sales campaign for the Mason City/Clear Lake, Iowa view book. As I'm sure you're aware, he sold his socks off! More importantly, he accomplished this with an informative and consultative sales style that was extremely appropriate for dealing with our membership. I am very impressed with the manner in which Michael kept in touch with our membership director throughout the campaign, and the consideration he showed our office staff.
The book arrived today and looks fantastic - the phone is ringing with positive comments. I must say it literally LEAPS off the pages!
I wanted to let you know how pleased I was with the sales campaign for the 2008 publication. {Our VP sales representative} Patrick is enthusiastic, industrious, efficient, professional, energetic, and extremely savvy. Not only did he achieve a dramatic sales increase in a remarkably short amount of time (finishing the project ahead of schedule), but he also made new friends in our community. The Chamber received only positive comments regarding Patrick. He is a tremendous asset to Village Profile™, and a great ambassador of the collaborative relationship between Chambers and Village Profile™.
Rob Arenz was our sales person and the feedback regarding his presentations were awesome. I was told he was "a delight, personable, not pushy, easy to work with and just a nice guy." The response so far to this high quality magazine has been terrific. Employees and elected officials at City Hall have been repeating some of the "50 Fun Facts About Rancho Mirage;" many residents have found our office to pick up an extra copy or two to mail to friends and relatives in other parts of the country.
I do not often take the time from my packed schedule to write a fan letter, but felt I had to when your post-publication Survey arrived on my desk. I know I checked all 5's, which is also very unlike me. I am a hard grader but your team is so excellent, and customer service so outstanding from all aspects. Everyone is a pleasure to work with and all seem to know what is happening in all departments/. If only all companies we work with had the same kind of communication and customer service skills your employees do. I have recommended VP to other Chambers and will continue to do so.
