More than 15 faiths offer weekly worship services in Andalusia, but the message of hope doesn’t end in the pulpits. Community organizations thrive as residents marry their hearts and beliefs.
Take, for instance, the Acts of Kindness program, a non-profit organization that addresses hunger among the disadvantaged of southern Alabama. Eight trucking companies, three agencies, three food suppliers and nearly 50 volunteers handle the food distribution. In 2001, the program’s estimated value stood at more than $2.8 million.
