Location and Transportation
Brewton, located in Escambia County, is the county seat and houses the courthouse in the middle of its quaint and historic downtown. People bustle with business from all over the county, and the city easily accommodates the action. Atmore, Flomaton and East Brewton officials meet in Brewton to discuss and handle the county affairs. Escambia County also has a transit system, which transports residents throughout the city and to different locations in the county.
Brewton is conveniently located within 100 miles of three major southern cities, Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida. Just a stone's throw from Interstate 65, Brewton gives quick access to the major thoroughfare. On Highway 41, a project is underway, which will further increase the accessibility of Brewton to the interstate by adding additional traveling lanes. Logging trucks and other industry carriers will have even easier access to transport their goods between major hubs.
East Brewton allows its residents to conduct city business inside its own City Hall complex, which houses the City Clerk’s office, police and fire departments. County matters can be handled just a few miles away at the courthouse in Brewton.
A local airport is located outside the city limits, which accommodates small-engine aircrafts and has a runway length of 5,100 feet. In addition, Pensacola Regional Airport is approximately 50 miles away and gives travelers options to a variety of air carriers.
Brewton is also located near several military installations including Pensacola Naval Air Station, Whiting Field in Milton, Florida, and Eglin Air Force Base in Okaloosa County, Florida. And who can forget those beautiful beaches! Brewton gives easy access to some of the most wonderful retreat locations in the country.
