At the center of Brewton’s healthcare network is D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. The hospital provides an intensive care unit, inpatient care, emergency services, diagnostic and surgical services, outpatient clinics, hearing center and community education. It contains 85 beds for the infirm and also houses a radiation therapy unit, a nuclear medicine diagnostic center, has ultrasound and arteriographic capabilities, and an oncology clinic. MRIs and full- body CT scans are also provided, as well as a full respiratory therapy department. The laboratory is highly equipped and utilizes the latest technology to provide a broad range of diagnostic testing and services. The hospital also furnishes clinic space for out-of-town specialists to travel to Brewton and provide healthcare options for residents.
Just across the street is a general surgery office that offers two surgical associates who provide high- quality surgical care. Located conveniently next door, the Brewton Medical Center offers family and specialized services to the Brewton community in the form of general practitioners, pediatricians, gynecologists, obstetricians and a cardiologist. In addition, the Brewton Medical Center maintains its own in-house pharmacy and drug store. Brewton also has a Dialysis Center with 14 units and an Internist/ Nephrologist in residence and a wound care clinic. The Gulf Coast Cancer Center provides healthcare and services to cancer patients, while employing the latest technology, procedures and treatment options.
West Gate Village, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, has been serving the Greater Brewton area since 1965 and accommodates 129 residents with private and semi-private rooms. Rehabilitative therapies are available to community residents requiring a short-term stay. The professional staff consists of licensed physicians and registered nursing specialists providing quality care 24 hours a day. The Meadows, which is an assisted living facility, is just across the street and is able to accommodate even more residents. Home health and hospice services are also available for those in need.
Located next door to the Brewton Medical Center, the Escambia County Health Department provides high-quality and professional services to the public. Disease surveillance and prevention, along with healthcare, environmental and educational services are available to the public regardless of social circumstances or the ability to pay.
