Several types of industry are housed in and around Brewton, and whether it’s major industry or small business, Brewton accommodates all types of commerce in its economy.

The largest industry in Brewton is timber. Whether it’s logging, making paper products or operating a sawmill, lumber and its products are the major commodities in Brewton. T.R. Miller Mill is the oldest timber company in the area. Making wood products, the company is still operated by the same family who founded the business in the 1800s. Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation is the largest employer in the area, creating over 600 jobs for the city’s residents. Paperboard is the company’s main product and it’s shipped all over the country from right here in Brewton. Swift Companies, Inc. is locally owned as well and is a sawmill producing over 100 jobs.

Natural Decorations, Inc. (NDI) makes artificial plants and is housed in Brewton. NDI makes arrangements which are shipped and sold all over the world. NDI offers a plant tour which showcases how their products are made and is a local tourist attraction. Another industry in Brewton is the Citation Corporation. Making ductile castings is their business, and they employ nearly 400 people. Other industries are Frit Car & Equipment Co. Inc., Masland, Alto Products Corporation of Alabama, and Atmore Industries, Inc. There are many opportunities in and around Brewton and you’re sure to find what is right for you and your family.

The Chamber of Commerce also hosts an economic development board. This important civic organization looks for ways to attract businesses to the area.
