First-rate education is a key element of Childersburg. Childersburg Elementary School has an enrollment of about 350 students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade. Teachers receive additional training throughout the year to better assist students in the learning process. Childersburg Elementary School was a recipient of the “Torchbearer School” award and has achieved Adequate Yearly Progress two years running.

Watwood Elementary School is another shining example of excellent education for the children of Childersburg with about 400 registered students in grades kindergarten through fourth. Watwood serves as a Literacy Demonstration Site as a part of the Alabama Reading Initiative. On the science and math front, teachers participate in the Alabama Hands-on-Activity Science Programs working in conjunction with the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Childersburg Middle School encompasses grades five through eight, with about 550 students in attendance. A well-rounded academic program and extensive list of extra curricular activities makes for a top-notch educational experience.

Childersburg High School’s approximately 570 students are benefited by a four-by-four curriculum with several electives to focus their interests. Many clubs and athletic programs are available for students to become involved and stay active.

Working to ensure the futures of the community’s children, the Childersburg Educational Foundation formed in 1988 and continues to raise funds to distribute amongst the area schools for needed equipment, supplies and programs.

Central Alabama Community College provides its students with a diverse set of programs to obtain a bachelor's degree or certificate. Flexibility in schedule makes it easy for students whose obligations may not allow for a traditional schedule. Students benefit from small class sizes and cutting-edge technology. Other opportunities for higher education lie within about 40 miles of Childersburg, including Samford University, Jefferson State Community College, and the University of Montevallo and UAB.
