Culture is always in bloom in and around the Camellia City. The immaculately renovated Ritz Theater, saved from demolition in the 1980s, is a 1930s Art Deco theater. The Greenville Area Arts Council, one of the most active and vibrant small-town arts organizations in the state, brings several top-quality performances to the stage of the historic Ritz every year. Nearby Georgiana offers the historically rich Ga-Ana Theater and a museum dedicated the life and career of country icon Hank Williams, Sr.
More than anything, the residents of Greenville and Butler County love to have fun as a community, a fact readily evident through the annual festivals held here. Among the favorites are the summertime Watermelon Jubilee, the Sweetgum Bottom Blues Festival, the Butler County Fair, Celebrate America, Old Time Farm Day, the Sweet Potato Festival, the Christmas Parade and Georgiana’s Hank Williams Festival.
