Welcome to Lake Guntersville! Located on the southernmost point of the Tennessee River in Northeast Alabama, Guntersville is a dynamic and friendly place to live.

Highway 431 is the major artery through Guntersville. State highways 79, 69, and 205 also pass through Guntersville. Interstate 59 is 26 miles south and Interstate 65 is 40 miles west.

Those in need of air transportation generally use the Huntsville International Airport (45 miles) or Birmingham International Airport (70 miles). Both offer several major carriers. Huntsville International Airport also offers an intermodal center adjacent to the airport to transfer, receive, store, and distribute air, rail, and highway cargo. Guntersville Municipal Airport is located three miles northeast of the city on Highway 431 north. Plans are underway for a new approved by the Federal Aviation Administration 5,500-foot runway. The airport is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

The City of Guntersville provides public transportation within the Guntersville area through the Guntersville Metro Transportation program.
