Education has always been a significant aspect of community life in Monroe County, and there are plenty of academic opportunities afforded from several daycare centers through secondary educational institutions. The area is fortunate to be supplied with favorable curriculums, caring and scholarly faculty members, a host of excellent extracurricular programs and an overall supportive community — all together creating a high-quality educational adventure for everyone.

The area is served by the Monroe County School District, a system of a dozen facilities offering a comprehensive curriculum for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. More than 4,400 students enjoy the excellent education provided through the school district, while 500 faculty and staff members comprise the dedicated personnel.

An alternative to the public school options are two area private schools. A part of the community since 1969, Monroe Academy serves over 400 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, boasting top-rate education evidenced by a 100 percent graduation rate over the last decade. New Life Christian School was founded in 1995 and currently provides its base of 140 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade an outstanding Bible-based curriculum.
