Diverse Industrial Opportunities
Monroe County’s diverse industrial base lends itself to expansion opportunities. A number of partners assist with new and expanding industrial opportunities — including the City of Monroeville and Monroe County Commission, the Monroeville Commercial Development Authority, the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Planning Commission, the Alabama Development Office, Alabama Power Company, Southern Pine Electric Cooperative, and South Alabama Gas Company.
In 2005, Monroe County joined neigbors Conecuh and Escambia to form the Tri-County Industrial Development Authority, now known as the Air Coastal Gateway EDA. This will become Monroe County’s major marketing arm for new development projects.
Monroe County is also an active partner in the six-county Southwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance.
