Arts & Culture
Montevallo has a vibrant art community and is full of cultural offerings, from concerts to theater and everything in between, all of which are promoted and coordinated by the Montevallo Arts Council. Established in 2005, the MAC is committed to bringing arts to the community, and its first major project is the Montevallo Arts Fest scheduled for April 26-28, 2007 in Orr Park. To be featured are visual artists, musicians, writers, actors and dancers, and it promises to be a fun and enriching experience for all.
The Montevallo Main Street Players, one of the community’s many artists’ groups, produce four plays per year, and allow residents to participate both in and behind the scenes. The MMSP’s permanent home is the Parnell Memorial Library Theatre, a 143-seat theatre equipped with modern lighting, sound and design, where they delight local audience members with popular and well known productions.
The Montevallo Chorale is a community-based organization focused on choral singing and musical literacy, and performs quality music that is exciting and varied. The Chorale doesn’t require auditions, and is open to anyone with a passion for vocal music, and who, through a love of great music, is dedicated to producing wonderful song.
