This system of production not only creates jobs in manufacturing plants, but also in the transportation and trade sectors. Non-manufactures in Baldwin County are very important sources of employment. Manufacturers like Goodrich Aerospace and Standard Furniture are mainstays on the county’s manufacturing scene. A multitude of resources exist for companies to start, boost or relocate their business through financing options and supplemental education and training. In addition to bank loans, grants, tax incentives, bonds and other non-traditional loans are available to supplement funding.
In collaboration with the state’s community college system, Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) provides quality workforce development for Alabama’s new and expanding businesses. It also expands opportunities for citizens through the jobs these businesses create. Programs like The Adult Training Program, CISCO Networking Training Academy and the Alabama Works Program also provide valuable training and education.
The City of Bay Minette has recently improved its manufacturing prospects by certifying a 3,000-acre mega-site. The desirability of this site is in the fact that it has rail access, interstate access, port access and airport access.
