Sylacauga’s moderate year-round climate and prime location provide for a plethora of recreational opportunities.
Five area parks—newly renovated pavilions, and skate parks with playgrounds, gazebos, tennis courts and picnic areas—are popular venues for outdoor fun.
Wildlife enthusiasts are sure to appreciate the seven major reserves and the abundance of small game (wild turkey and deer within 50 miles of Sylacauga).
Fishing and boating are offered on Lake Howard, Sylacauga’s water reservoir, as well as four large lakes, all a short drive away.
The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation Department maintains two large community centers, a new Senior Center, and the ever-popular domed pool, which allows for year-round use.
Programs include aerobics, gymnastics, dance and ceramics. Organized sports include adult softball leagues, youth baseball, basketball, soccer, football, swimming and cheerleading.
