

Some of the state’s most exciting and unique events and festivals can be found in Tuscaloosa County. People from all over come to Tuscaloosa each year for a diverse line-up of entertainment opportunities for the entire family. Happenings include the following:
Kentuck Festival of Arts, held on the third weekend in October, has become one of the South’s most prestigious and recognized arts and crafts festivals. The festival draws over 200 of the nation’s top artisans and craftsmen and over 25,000 visitors.
Dickens Christmas, usually the first Tuesday evening in December, is an annual family-filled Christmas experience in downtown Northport providing a traditional old-fashioned holiday treat.
Christmas Afloat is held annually on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa and features holiday-lighted boats and watercraft.
West Alabama Christmas Parade – usually the first Monday in December in downtown Tuscaloosa, is West Alabama’s largest holiday parade. Expect floats, costumes and group entries with plenty of holiday spirit.
Heritage Week is held each April. The week-long event draws people from throughout the South to Tuscaloosa’s beautiful antebellum and historic homes and sites, along with many related activities.
July Jubilee, July 4th in downtown Tuscaloosa, is West Alabama’s largest Independence Day event. It includes live and patriotic music, activities for the kids and fireworks.
The 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials for triathlon will be held on April 19th. Tuscaloosa was chosen based on its success with hosting USAT Collegiate Nationals earlier this year and the course’s match with that of the Olympic Games course in Beijing. The U.S. Olympic Trials for triathlon has officially woven Tuscaloosa into the global fabric of the Olympic tradition.
