As Mayor of Northport, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our community. Named one of the top 100 Small Art Communities in the United States, Northport offers an inviting atmosphere to live, work and play. With its early beginnings as a port city nestled in a canebrake on the shores of the Black Warrior River, Northport served as West Alabama’s general trade area and northern most point for river navigation. Located in the heart of Tuscaloosa County at the juncture of three major highways, the Northport of today offers the same appeal as yesteryear. From easily accessible shopping areas featuring major retailers, to the historic downtown Northport of the bygone era, the shopper and visitor alike are sure to experience that special Northport hospitality.
