Glendale is served by three hospitals in the immediate area - two in Glendale and one on the southern border in Phoenix. Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix serves the residents in south Glendale, while Thunderbird Samaritan and Arrowhead hospitals serve the city's north central population. Maryvale Hospital Medical Center, a 239-bed facility, has served the inpatient healthcare needs of the West Phoenix community for over 40 years. The Center offers a full range of quality care services and is particularly proud of the Center for Mother and Child, Surgery, and Level II Trauma capabilities. The West Valley Emergency Center is the only licensed, 24-hour urgent care facility in the West Valley, a full-service emergency unit open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
