Incorporated not too long ago in 1977, Marana is rich in heritage, with a profound sense of community.

Where the town of Marana stands has long been part of Arizona’s history. Many groups came through and settled here, the first inhabitants being the Hohokam people. Europeans made their first appearance in the late 1600s.

The Southern Pacific Railroad put Marana on the map in the late 1800s with the introduction the railroad, making it a more integral part of the area. It was during World War II that Marana Airfield became the largest pilot training center in the world. From its early days, Marana has thrived on agricultural endeavors. Continuing to find success in this venture today, the city also focuses on the continual development of industrial, commercial, and residential enterprises.

Marana’s over 28,000 residents enjoy an array of attractions, numerous recreational and community centers, and excellent schools. While the core of this community retains a small-town feel, the large cities around it provide for ample opportunity in all facets of life. Marana has so much to offer!
