BLUE ROSE THEATRE

Sharlot Hall Museum’s Blue Rose Theatre has been a part of the community since 1994, offering engrossing historical theatre to patrons of all ages. Since its partnering with the museum nearly 15 years ago, the Blue Rose Theatre has presented 72 productions, with 68 original pieces written especially for the Sharlot Hall Museum. In addition to its calendar of productions, the theatre offers excellent youth programs and community outreach, with the availability of special programming such as the Rose Garden Girls, Lamplight Tours and a Creekside Walk.

The 575-seat Elks Opera House is a prominent historic structure in Prescott’s downtown district. The building, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, was opened and dedicated by Elks Lodge #330 on February 20, 1905. After on-going restoration, it still stands as a significant venue for concerts, theatrical performances, conferences and an array of additional special events. It’s the home each summer to the Arizona Revue – “That’s Entertainment!,” a family-friendly music and comedy show, and its holiday season counterpart, the Arizona Revue Christmas Show.

Located on the Prescott High School campus, the Ruth Street Players provides entertaining, affordable productions for the general public, including a Shakespeare Festival each summer.

Built in November of 2006, this modern multi-purpose venue stands as a premier site for concerts, sports, expos, stage shows and a variety of other special events. The nearly 135,000-square-foot Tim’s Toyota Center is home to the Arizona Adrenaline professional indoor football team (AIFA) and the Arizona Sundogs ice hockey team—2007-08 champions of the Central Hockey League.

The Prescott Fine Arts Association fosters the area’s cultural community by creating ample opportunities for expressing artistry through a number of events and programs throughout the year. The PFAA produces a wealth of main stage performances— such as “Chicago,” “Pajama Game” and “Pippen”—concerts and family theatre productions, and houses an art gallery that is filled with exhibits and a variety of works of art, many by local artists.

More than 30 performances a year are offered at the Yavapai College Performance Hall, featuring an assortment of performers such as Bill Cosby, Itzhak Perlman and Garrison Keillor. The Hall seats up to 1,100 guests, providing an intimate and overall enjoyable setting. Also situated within the Hall is the Yavapai College Art Gallery, which is an excellent place to browse through interesting exhibits, as well as attend an assortment of presentations and further cultural events throughout the year.

The four-acre Sculpture Garden is a peaceful and innovative site on the college campus. Located next to the Performance Hall and Art Gallery, the park fuses gorgeous landscaping with contemporary sculpture. Currently, the garden is home to seven sculptures; and with the New Phase III project, several more sculptures will be featured. The Sculpture Garden is also a great place for outdoor events.
