Housing in Snowflake/Taylor is diverse, ranging from smaller homes in a town setting to larger estates outside of town, each surrounded by the natural beauty of the White Mountain region. Every unique lifestyle is met by the homes of the area, and local amenities are in close proximity to each resident.
The sister communities have gradually grown over the years, with Snowflake encompassing approximately 5,500 residents and Taylor with more than 4,100 – both significant increases in the last several years. The two cities are located amidst some of Arizona’s most popular recreational sites and attractions, making it not only a popular site for new, permanent residents, but also for retirees and vacation homes.
New residential construction permits have risen from 30 in 2004 to 68 in 2005, and to 103 in 2006. Current residential developments range in price from around $150,000 to $250,000 for homes 1,500 to 2,500 square feet on one-third of an acre of land. Open land for custom home building is also attainable for approximately $40,000 to $60,000 per one-third-acre parcel of land.
Existing homes are available in a wide array of budgets and styles, with around 1,400 square feet of living on a quarter of an acre ranging between $85,000 and $125,000. Homes sized between 2,500 and 3,500 square feet on a quarter of an acre are priced from $150,000 to $200,000.
