graphicThe City of Tucson has a mayor and six council members, each elected to a four year term. The City Council, as the seven are called, meets every Monday in open sessions to discuss city policy. Often, the Council schedules public hearings on topics of interest to the community at large. With a majority vote, the Council creates ordinances, or city law.

Appointed by the City Council, the City Manager carries out the ordinances of the city of Tucson and oversees a vast array of departments and as well as all services provided to the city’s residents.
