As one of the five fastest-growing counties in Arkansas, Saline County has seen an increase in young families moving to the community, and Saline Memorial Hospital (SMH) has grown during the past 50 years to meet the demand for accessible healthcare.

The hospital includes an expanded and technologically advanced emergency department; a $9 million, 32,000-square-foot surgery center; a breast imaging center; a total joint center; a wound care center; and a radiology suite offering complete outpatient diagnostic services. The hospital’s 167 patient beds offer medical care from the birth of a baby to end-of-life hospice care. The newly built Hospice House, a 16-bed inpatient facility, provides the highest-quality end-of-life care to patients and their families. More than 180 active and consulting physicians work by the side of trained health professionals to provide highly skilled, compassionate and competent care to all patients.

Residents also benefit from the array of other healthcare providers located in the area. Baptist Health Systems has been serving the state of Arkansas for more than 80 years with the Baptist Health Therapy Center and the Benton Family Clinic located right in Benton. Also, in response to a recent community assessment survey, Saline Memorial Hospital, through an arrangement with the Heart Clinic of Arkansas and St. Vincent Health System, is offering an extensive heart and vascular program. For the first time, patients can receive treatment for various forms of coronary artery disease close to home. Also, primary care physicians, dentists, optometrists, psychiatrists and many more specialists bring quality care to the people of Benton.
