Ouachita River

Of course! Our mild climate and proximity to nearby lakes (some of the best fishing spots in Arkansas), reservoirs, state parks, and the Ouachita River offer unlimited opportunities year-round for children of all ages who enjoy the outdoors. Sandy Beach, on the Ouachita River in Camden, sees plenty of activity during the summer months with its boat ramp, picnic areas, and a playground for the youngsters. For those with access to a boat, there are small sandy beaches to spend those hot summer days right on the Ouachita River. White Oak Lake State Park, a short 18-mile drive away, offers campgrounds, swimming areas, fishing, scenic nature trails, picnic areas, and a playground.

Thousands of acres of land in and around Camden provide some of the best deer hunting in this part of the country. This paradise for sportsmen also boasts abundant quail, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, and dove hunting. Many sportsmen from other areas travel to Camden just for the hunting seasons in our serene and abundant environment.

Ouachita County Boys and Girls Club

Other recreational activities in the Camden area include a bowling alley, numerous tennis courts, ballparks, soccer fields, municipal parks, swimming pools, and golf courses. The Ouachita County Boys and Girls Club is equipped with baseball parks, soccer fields, an indoor and outdoor basketball court, a large park with picnic areas, a community building available for functions, and indoor games such as pool.

The Ouachita County Library, which is known for its outstanding genealogical archives, offers summer activities for children. Our children enjoy Boy and Girl Scouts, numerous 4-H activities, martial arts, gymnastics, and dance facilities. PeeWee Football is a favorite among children and parents alike. Second through fifth grade boys can participate in the sport and girls of the same age group participate as cheerleaders.
