Worship in El Dorado
El Dorado has a vibrant and active faith community. There is a broad representation of denominations, and many of the churches work together to provide services to minister to the less fortunate.
The generosity of the people in El Dorado is well-known throughout the region, and nowhere is this more evident than in the local churches.
InterFaith Help Services (IHS) is one of the organizations formed by local churches to aid the needy in El Dorado. IHS is an agency that provides food, medication, utility assistance, dental assistance and other help as deemed necessary.
InterFaith Health Clinic was formed to provide primary health care for the working uninsured. It has grown from being housed in a church classroom to having its own office and staff of employees.
The Bread of Life Soup Kitchen is an InterFaith agency housed at the Salvation Army to feed the hungry of El Dorado.
Habitat for Humanity is a movement supported by covenant churches in El Dorado that works to eliminate substandard housing and homelessness in the city.
These are just a few of the many agencies formed to help the residents of the city. Many individual churches offer a wide variety of outreach opportunities to their members as well as the community at large. The generosity and caring of those who minister to the community is just one more reason for the superb quality of life in El Dorado.
