El Dorado is located in the heart of the Timberland region of Arkansas. Here among the pine trees and hardwoods is some of the best deer hunting and bass fishing in the state.

El Dorado is the county seat of Union County, the largest county in the state with 1,039 square miles and a population of 45,629 residents.

Known also as “Arkansas’ Original Boomtown,” El Dorado experienced a boom when oil was discovered one mile from town in January 1921.

Visitors still experience the wealth of the oil boom, which is reflected in the impressive buildings in the El Dorado Commercial Historic District. Six buildings are currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
