Located deep in the beautiful pine forests of southern Arkansas, Magnolia is one of this state’s treasures. Take time to visit our 100-year-old classical revival courthouse, located in the center of our charming historic downtown.

The Magnolia Blossom Festival and the World Championship Steak Cook-Off are held every year during the third weekend in May. In addition to the actual cook-off, the two-day festival includes live entertainment, a 5K Race, a Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, the Tom Dehoney Memorial Big Bass Tournament, a Dog Show, a parade of cookers, arts and crafts and lots of fun for the whole family. Steak dinner tickets and more information may be found online at www.blossomfestival.org.

The Sidewalk Art Show was the beginning of the festival and has been held for 58 years. Artists of all ages come from near and far to exhibit their work under the magnolia trees on the courthouse lawn.

Enjoy the Emerson Purple Hull Pea Festival and World Championship Rotary Tiller Races. This festival is held each year on the last weekend in June. The races have been featured on ESPN. It’s a day full of great food and family fun. www.purplehull.com

Murals have been painted on many of the downtown buildings and depict the rich history our community has to offer. Within walking distance of downtown Magnolia is beautiful Wilson Gardens. Built in 2004, it offers a variety of plants throughout its landscape. A must see for every Master Gardener.

Explore nature at Logoly State Park by taking a hike on Crane’s Fly Trail. This park is Arkansas’ first environmental education park. For more information, you may visit them on the web at www.arkansasstateparks.com.

Located just seven miles west of town, Lake Columbia is a 3,000-acre reservoir that is an angler’s delight. The lake hosts 21 full-service campsites, a day picnic area, pavilion and three boat ramps. From trophy bass fishing to water sports, there is fun for the whole family. Make it your “day trip” or your “stay trip.” For camping or pavilion reservations, please call 870-234-0857.

Magnolia is also known for being an excellent area for deer, turkey and duck hunting. You will enjoy the great outdoors in south Arkansas.
