The Van Buren Chamber is a leading member of the Fort Smith Regional Alliance. Formed in 2010, the Regional Alliance, made up of 14 participating cities, works to develop a collaborative approach to regional economic development. By harnessing the rich resources of the 50-mile radius that makes up the Fort Smith Regional MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area), we are able to compete for important economic development opportunities that are available with a population of over 350,000. With a variety of higher educational institutions and a skilled, productive regional workforce, we are prepared to develop and produce world-class products.

The University of Arkansas also provides support to the business community. The Center for Business and Professional Development offers open enrollment, professional development courses and consulting to help the employees that build a business. The Family Enterprise Center provides families in business with programs and resources that will help make family involvement in the business a strategic strength. The university also has a Center for Business Research and Economic Development, which provides information to help regional stakeholders better understand and respond to the factors that affect the health and prosperity of the region.
