Alhambra is easily accessed, located as it is at the crux of major Southern California freeways and thoroughfares – the 10/San Bernardino Freeway, the 710/Long Beach Freeway, Main Street and Valley Boulevard, Mission Road, Huntington Drive, Fremont Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, and Garfield Avenue.
Alhambra is serviced by major regional transportation systems, including Metropolitan Transit Systems buses and Metrorail (through a city-bus linkage at the California State University, Los Angeles, station); intra-City transportation includes two fixed-route systems that serve business and residential areas throughout the city, a Senior Ride service, and organized excursions and outings throughout Southern California for families and seniors.
City Transportation:
To get you to and from your destination within city limits, Alhambra operates Alhambra Community Transit, also referred to as ACT. To reach an ACT representative, call (626) 289-1220.
Senior Transportation:
Senior Ride is a local transportation service provided free to Alhambra residents 60+ years of age, or disabled residents of any age. This curb-to-curb service transports seniors throughout the city for any purpose and up to two miles beyond city limits for medical appointments only. Registration is accepted with a photo ID proving age and Alhambra residency (utility bill, bank statement, etc.) at the following locations: Joslyn Adult Recreation Center, 210 N. Chapel Ave.; California Lutheran Home, 2400 S. Fremont Ave.; Atherton Baptist Home, 214 S. Atlantic Blvd.
Metro Gold Line:
While the ACT bus can take you to destinations within our city limits, the Metro Bus/Rail system provides a fast and efficient way to get to points beyond. The new Gold Line, which connects to the Metro Red Line, offers a convenient means to make connections to various Southland locations to and from Alhambra. A short ride on Metro Bus Line 176, which stops at Garfield and Atlantic, will take you to the new Mission Station, located on Meridian Avenue in South Pasadena, where you can hop onto one of the new light rail trains. From this station, you will arrive at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles in approximately 20 minutes and the Sierra Madre Villa Station in approximately 15 minutes.
