Chamber of Commerce
For the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, 2011 began as a year of tough challenges, tough decisions and tough times. But tough times can show you what you are made of and can often bring out strengths you might not have realized you had. This was the case for the Chamber because 2011 ended up being a year filled with good times, amazing volunteers, talented leadership and a much needed resetting of direction. It was not a time for business as usual, and so, the Board of Directors set on a journey to rebuild and rethink everything about the Chamber. Our philosophy was and is simple—focus on adding value for our members and the community.
As we began 2012, we knew it was time to get back to basics. We reframed our mission and activities to align with what Chamber members want and need. Our new, simplified mission guides the work of the board of directors.

• Economic Development
In 2012, the Chamber is working on activities and events that add value for our members and the community. Be sure to check out:
• Our new, easy to use, dynamic website, www.antiochchamber.com, which continues to change to fit the needs of our members
• Educational lunches providing business owners with information and training
• Networking events like coffee with the Chamber, mixers and trade shows
• Our new focus on technology—including the very successful Techpalooza event held at Los Medanos College
• An Economic Summit that will focus on developing and expanding business clusters in our area
I must take a moment to recognize some key people who gave their time, energy and passion for the Chamber to get us to where we are today. Dr. Sean Wright, as the 2011 Chairman, set the vision and successfully led the Chamber through the rough times and spent countless hours rebuilding relationships and running day-to-day operations. Martha Goralka consistently volunteered in the office. Jack Monroe must have been born with the Antioch Chamber in his DNA. He has a love for the Chamber that is unmatched and brings in new members!
Brian Bellante of Auto Diagnostic and Repair will take the helm in 2013 as the Chairman. Brian and I are aligned and share the vision for the future of the Antioch Chamber. Dr. Sean Wright is now the part-time Chamber CEO, where he will continue to provide leadership, help create and guide the vision and lead the daily operations of the Chamber. Martha Goralka is back on staff to lead our member services area and Jack Monroe continues to lead our membership services function. The next few years are critical as we continue to build the Chamber to support our membership and our community. I feel fortunate to have a great lineup of talented staff and a committed Board of Directors to keep us moving forward.
I am excited about the direction the Chamber is taking. I think we are on the same “PAGE” as our membership and I invite you to check out the new and improved Antioch Chamber of Commerce. 2012 is going to be a great year, and we are already looking forward to an exciting 2013!
