The founders of Apple Valley understood that providing healthcare is a top priority. Numerous medical clinics, offices, specialized clinics and physicians practice excellent medical care in Apple Valley. Area residents have access to three hospitals within a 15-minute drive — St. Mary Medical Center, Desert Valley Medical Center and Victor Valley Community Hospital.

The keystone to medical care in Apple Valley, St. Mary Medical Center was established in 1956 and is owned by the St. Joseph Health System. The hospital has 186 licensed beds and has 850 employees. Special services offered include a Level II, eight-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; a fully accredited Cardiovascular Surgery program; Cardiac Diagnosis and Treatment Center; and Diabetes Treatment Care. St. Mary Medical Center has 144 medical staff members and offers several community outreach programs and clinics — including Healthy Beginnings; New Avenues Family Resource Center; Mother/Baby Assessment Center; Transportation Van; Bright Futures; Healthy Families/Medi-Cal; Hepatitis B Coalition and Influenza Vaccine Clinic.

Desert Valley Hospital, one of the newest medical facilities in the area, is an 83-bed acute care facility that offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital features four highly sophisticated surgical suites, equipped with the high desert’s only state-of-the-art, depth of anesthesia monitors — which allow for a broad array of both inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures.

Located in Victorville, Desert Valley Hospital also offers more than 20 private rooms (at no additional charge), a six-bed Intensive Care Unit and a Step-Down Unit for patients who require a higher level of care than their regular acute-care setting. Desert Valley Birth Place offers six decorated private suites for sharing the joy of new life in a home-like atmosphere. Emergency medical care is available without an appointment 365 days a year through their Emergency Department.

Victor Valley Community Hospital, founded in 1967, is a 115-acute care non-profit hospital. The Hospital is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of area business professionals and physicians, and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and the California Medical Association. The hospital’s Mission and Vision Statement is “To provide high quality, cost efficient health care to all those in need and to improve the health of our community.”

Victor Valley Community Hospital offers a full range of family healthcare services, from primary acute and highly specialized regional services to outpatient services and wellness education programs. Victor Valley Community Hospital services also include a 24-hour Emergency Department, an Urgent Care Department and the only Behavioral Health Unit in the area.
