Methodist Hospital

hospital

Methodist Hospital, founded in 1903, is a 460-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving the community. Services include comprehensive acute care such as medical, surgical, perinatal, pediatrics, oncology, intensive care (neonatal and adult) and complete cardiovascular services, including open heart surgery. Methodist Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Throughout its 104-year history, Methodist Hospital has continued to grow and evolve with the changing needs of the community. The new campus expansion project is a reflection of that ongoing commitment to change with the times in order to serve our patients well into the future. By planning and implementing improvements today, the hospital will be prepared to make tomorrow’s reality better for us all.The development of our campus expansion plan is adding capacity to serve our community better. The plan includes expanding our facilities and acquiring more advanced equipment to ensure that the hospital can meet the increased demands of the future and continue on the forefront of medical excellence. The goal is not only to provide comfort for our patients and their families but to also enhance the experience of everyone who comes through our doors. The ambitious vision will equip and prepare the hospital to care for the growing San Gabriel Valley. Plans include building upon the essentials, with a new expanded emergency department and critical care unit, an expansion of our award-winning cardiac care program and increased medical/surgical capacity. The emergency department will expand from 17 beds to 28 beds, with an 18-bed observation unit. The intensive care unit will expand from 29 beds to 40 beds. The new patient tower will house 20 critical care patient rooms, 120 medical/surgical rooms, a new pharmacy, kitchen and cafeteria, and an education center.

Seamless coordination of care has also been recently updated by an integrated electronic medical record system utilized throughout the hospital. The system, named MACS, stands for Methodist Automated Clinical Systems. It continues the hospital’s ongoing commitment to patient safety. MACS can be described as a proactive improvement process that will continuously provide crucial information in order to deal with problems before they surface. The project, although only in its first phase, has evidence to prove that it is not only enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration but its capabilities of allowing immediate access to patient information. It is strengthening our goal of providing an exceptional patient experience. MACS is truly an enabler in aiding our staff in providing The Next Generation of Care.
