Education – Azusa Unified School District (AUSD) serves more than 11,100 K-12 students within 12 elementary, three middle and three high schools. AUSD supplies a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students to enter our ever-changing society. In addition to traditional instructional programs, students participate in an array of Advanced Placement and Honors courses, along with a number of exceptional enrichment programs including JROTC, GATE and AVID. The district also operates the Azusa Adult Education program, which offers adult basic skills education, high school diploma/GED completion, ESL courses, life skills classes for adults with disabilities, senior activities and more.
In addition to public education, parents and students have the opportunity to enroll in one of several area private schools, including Light & Life Christian School and Christbridge Academy. The area also hosts an array of daycare and early childhood learning centers, such as Little Gems Learning & Daycare Center and Rainbow Christian Preschool.
Graduating high school seniors and adults going back to school have plenty of options for higher learning in the SoCal region. Locally, two outstanding institutions serve students. Azusa Pacific University is an award-winning, evangelical Christian university offering more than 80 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. Down the street in neighboring Glendora is Citrus College, the county’s oldest community college. Thousands of students each year enroll in two-year degree, transfer degree and vocational instruction programs, along with an array of noncredit courses.
