Transportation

Transportation – Located less than 30 minutes east of the big city of Los Angeles, Azusa is criss-crossed by several major California thoroughfares, which offer convenient connections to surrounding destinations. State Route 39 travels through the heart of the city while the Foothill Freeway (I-210) runs along the southern border of town. The San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) is reachable five minutes to the west, the Orange Freeway (State Route 57) is eight minutes to the southeast and the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) is located 10 minutes straight south.

Public transit is supplied through several resources. Foothill Transit provides fixed-route bus service to the communities of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys. The expansive Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) also operates bus service as well as commuter rail service with lines traveling throughout the region. Additional commuter and passenger rail service is available through Metrolink, a regional rail system with stations in nearby Covina and Baldwin Park.

Those traveling regionally, nationally or internationally have the choice of four airports positioned within 35 miles of Azusa. The closest major airport is Ontario International Airport. Bob Hope Airport in Burbank is approximately 26 miles from the city, while Los Angeles International Airport and John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana are reachable in just over 30 miles.
