Public education is available through the Calistoga Joint Unified School District. The Calistoga Joint Unified School District serves approximately 850 students from Calistoga and the surrounding area. The Calistoga public schools provide a rigorous, standards-based instructional program that also embraces and encourages higher-level thinking, problem solving, student engagement and creativity. Small class sizes, ample resources and individualized attention ensure that our students are provided with a broad-based educational experience and that each feels a connection to school and to our community.

The district schools enjoy strong support from the community and each year the Calistoga Education Foundation, Calistoga Wildcat Boosters, Calistoga Music and Arts Boosters as well as many local service organizations provide additional funding for a multitude of educational “extras” that enrich the learning experience for all students.

Students enrolled in the district have shown to consistently score above the state and national averages on academic assessments. What’s more, statistics show that around 98 percent of high school students have gone on to attend junior college and/or a four-year institution upon graduation.

We are proud that Calistoga Junior/Senior High School has been honored with the California Distinguished School designation. For more information, visit our website at www.calistoga.k12.ca.us.

An alternative to the local public system can be accessed through a handful of private institutions, including parochial facilities and charter schools, situated in and around the Calistoga area.

For those interested in pursuing opportunities for higher learning, the Calistoga community is located within 45 minutes of four excellent colleges and universities. Napa Valley College may have its main campus in nearby Napa, but it also offers a handful of off-campus learning options within Calistoga. Further close by options include Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park and Pacific Union College in Angwin.
