A number of special events, designed to enhance community unity, generate retail sales and boost tourism, are held throughout the year in Cathedral City.
Orion Community Service Awards – January
In conjunction with the Installation of the Board of Directors, the Chamber recognizes community service for the Man, Woman, Business, Non-Profit and Restaurant of the Year, as well as other recognition including the Educator, Youth and Volunteer of the Year.
Golden Apple Educator Awards – March
The Annual Golden Apple Awards celebrates excellence in education. It honors Educators and Administrators in all three school districts that serve the Coachella Valley. Last year, held at the Mary Pickford Theater, the event takes on an Academy Awards theme complete with red carpet and paparazzi.
Boomers-Olympics – July
Held at Boomer’s Family Fun Park in conjunction with our monthly mixer, participants form a team of four or join up with other individuals to compete in one of five events: Miniature Golf, Skee Ball, Go-Carts, Bumper Boats or Rock Wall. Each team participates in a business category for Gold, Silver and Bronze. The cost is $25 per person and includes admission to the mixer. In addition to the games, guests will enjoy complimentary hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar while they interact with other businesses. The Cathedral City Chamber is known to have the friendliest mixers in the Valley.
State of the City Luncheon – October
Mayor Kathy De Rosa will present the current state of our City government. More details will be released closer to the event.
The Power Breakfast is the first Wednesday of the month at the Doral Desert Princess Resort, Vista Chino at Landau in Cathedral City. Topics range from downtown redevelopment to the Palm Springs International Airport. The breakfast starts at 6:45 a.m., and admission is $15 when you RSVP by the Monday prior.
Held at various member sites throughout the year, the monthly Networking Mixers are held the third Thursday of each month. Business people gather to meet and share information about their respective businesses. Raffles are held, so there's fun to be had while you work. Admission is $5 for members and $7 for potential members.
Other events are always popping up, so check the events calendar on the Chamber website, www.cathedralcitycc.com, for the latest information and updates.
