Downtown Chico is a retail and cultural hub located in the heart of town. An eclectic mix of more than 450 businesses line the streets of the centrally-located Downtown Chico, a district that was ranked the No. 3 “Best Mid-Size Downtown” in the California Planning & Development Report of 2007.

The community’s southeastern retail corridor is home to Chico Mall, Pheasant Run shopping center and the Target Center. Its southwestern area, along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, is filled with plenty of retail and dining opportunities. There are also a number of neighborhood strip malls and convenience centers located at various sites across the community.

As for the dining scene, Chico’s selection is quite impressive. Steakhouses, bar & grills, sushi bars, cafés, pizza places and barbecue establishments are complemented by a range of ethnic restaurants serving up the finest in authentic Mexican, Italian, Chinese and Thai. Patrons can also sample fresh produce, baked goods and more at one of Chico’s Farmers Markets. Downtown Chico hosts a year-round market on Saturdays and the Thursday Night Market between April and October.

After a day of shopping and dining, visitors have the choice of a multitude of charming bed and breakfasts and full-service hotels and motels in Chico and its neighboring communities. Spacious guest rooms and suites are supplemented by fine customer service and quality amenities at all Chico area lodging sites.
