Healthcare

The Chico area is home to some 300 physicians, surgeons and other medical professionals who represent a wide range of healthcare specialties and subspecialties. Residents can also access immediate care centers, walk-in clinics and a major hospital campus within Chico.

Anchoring the healthcare community is Enloe Medical Center, a 391-bed hospital serving more than 400,000 people in the region. The hospital is equipped with a Level II Trauma Center, FlightCare service, a Mother & Baby Care Center, a Regional Cancer Center, a Children’s Health Center, Same Day Surgery Center and leading programs for heart, stroke and weight management. It also operates two Prompt Care Clinics in the community.

Enloe is currently embarking on its fourth expansion project since its establishment. Known as the Century Project, this endeavor includes the construction of a new five-story patient tower, which will include a surgery center and emergency center, as well as a three-story parking structure and encompassing community park. The parking structure was completed in August 2008 and the patient tower is expected to open in 2011. At the culmination of this project, the hospital will have an added 191,000 square feet of space and 140 beds, and will also have more than 28,000 square feet of upgrades in the existing space.
