Welcome to the 2012 edition of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce Community Guide and Directory. We are proud to present this showcase of the most important business people in the Central Valley—Clovis Chamber of Commerce members.
These are the movers and shakers of the business community. These are the people who create the vitality that keeps the economy going strong, the people who take the risks to succeed and hire others to join in their success.
They recognize the importance of belonging to the Clovis Chamber that exists to “advocate and support a healthy business environment which improves the quality of life in Clovis.”

They are also proud to be members of the Clovis community that celebrates its centennial in February 2012. From 1880 when wheat farmer Clovis Cole purchased 480 acres that eventually became the City of Clovis, the area has grown by leaps and bounds.
The City of Clovis has always been productive. In 1890 the independent San Joaquin Valley Railroad ran through the center of town and it built a thriving lumber industry as the destination for a 42-mile flume filled with logs. Cattle and wheat were its primary products.
By 1912 when the city was incorporated, it was a thriving town.
During the past 100 years, Clovis has become known as one of the leaders in smart management and a great place to live. With a nationally recognized school district, highly respected police department and numerous family events, it attracts people from across the country.
Clovis also recognizes the importance of attracting new business especially during this downturn in the economy. It has an active economic development department and is offering major incentives for new businesses including eliminating development fees in the Old Town area, a temporary suspension of major facilities sewer and water impact fees for office and industrial development and a temporary sales tax rebate for businesses locating in existing vacant properties. It offers a two-year business license fee waiver for home-based businesses moving into a commercial area.

The city manages the budget with expertise. It recognized the oncoming recession in 2007 and was proactive in taking steps to address the issue. Cuts were made and concessions were given by city workers that helped balance the budget. This year, there is money for reserves and to start improving our infrastructure.
The Clovis Chamber has played a major role in keeping the local economy going. By supporting our members through networking programs, advocacy and events, we have helped many stay in business and some have grown.
It’s still tough going but it’s an advantage to be part of a dynamic city such as Clovis and the Clovis Chamber of Commerce. We encourage our members to take advantage of all the programs we offer and we invite other businesses to join us.
