Chamber Activities

Committees and councils provide the organizational structure to accomplish the Chamber’s goals and mission — to advocate and support a healthy business environment, which improves the quality of life in Clovis. Networking and marketing events provide opportunities for members to expand and increase their business. A healthy business environment creates a strong community.

Ambassador Corp
Ambassadors are the official goodwill representatives for the Chamber. Their primary mission is to promote and recruit membership through ribbon cuttings, personal contacts and directory distribution.

Arts Council
The goal of the Arts Council is to establish Clovis as the Cultural Arts Center of the Central Valley through the use of sculptures and murals as attractions. They are also working on the design and construction of a performing arts and theater building.

Business Advocacy
Advocating for local businesses is one of the primary responsibilities of the Chamber. The Public Policy Committee performs due diligence on issues before they become legislative bills. Vital areas such as transportation, air quality, sewer and water quality are studied and the results are reported to the Chamber membership. The Legislative Issues Committee analyzes and acts on legislation that impacts the business community. Recognized statewide for its advocacy, the committee encourages members to interact with elected officials to impact legislative decisions.

Business is Good! Committee
Through a variety of presentations and meetings, the Business is Good! Committee provides Chamber members opportunities to improve their business acumen. They learn how to hone speaking skills at the weekly Toastmasters’ Club meetings. Nationally known guest speakers are brought in for the Lecture Series and workshops are held to educate Chamber members about issues that affect business.

Clovis Area Brokers
This real estate group meets to provide training, industry information and networking opportunities for its members. It presents the annual Clovis Real Estate Expo.

ClovisPAC
ClovisPAC is the political action committee of the Chamber of Commerce and exists as an independent entity that studies legislative issues and can support, endorse or oppose city, county, state and national issues or candidates. ClovisPAC is also recognized as an effective influence on the local and statewide political scene.

Focus on Clovis
This is a monthly exploration of local Real Estate Issues where realty professionals network and enjoy a discussion by real estate experts.

Foundation for Regional Cooperation and Development
The Foundation was founded to study, support and administer various projects, including scholarships for the Clovis community. It holds and administers the Union Bank building that is used by the Auberry Community Free Library. It also works on community and educational development projects.

Hall of Fame Council

Hall of Fame Council
Meeting year-round, this council researches past and present local citizens and organizations that have contributed to the growth and development of Clovis in a manner that supports the Clovis Way of Life. Their efforts have established the permanent Hall of Fame display in the Chamber lobby.

Leadership Clovis
Allan Christensen and Dr. Gary Grossman of the Empowerment Team guide this two-year program preparing people for active leadership roles in business and the community. Selected interns follow a curriculum designed by Chamber members and business leaders, culminating with a class project. The 2006-2007 class project recognized “Doc” Buchanan’s contribution to the Clovis Way of Life. He was instrumental in creating the success of the Clovis Unified School District.

Leads Clubs
The Chamber sponsors three groups that present opportunities for networking with fellow members through semi-monthly meetings.

Membership Mixers
Each month, a Chamber member hosts a mixer for fellow members. New relationships and leads are established that help to improve and increase business.

Ribbon Cutting Committee
The Ribbon Cutting Team celebrates new businesses, expansions, remodels and new ownership by cutting a blue ribbon with the famous big Chamber scissors — another great way to network and market your business.

Shaw Avenue Committee
The goal of this committee is to make the Shaw Avenue Corridor a “destination place.” The street has been branded with the name The Avenue and showcases seasonal banners and two large monument signs that welcome visitors to the boulevard. Economic growth and activity has increased significantly since the committee began working on the project.

Speed Networking
A trendsetting marketing event, Speed Networking provides 20 new contacts in two hours. Participants change places every three minutes to meet new contacts and leads.

Toastmasters Club
The Clovis Chamber has hosted a Toastmasters Club since 2004 and has seen over 70 business people develop speaking skills. The Club earned the coveted President’s Distinguished designation twice.

Tourism Committee

Tourism Committee
The Tourism Committee works to promote Clovis to visitors and new residents through personal meetings; maintaining brochures and information at the Chamber office; and keeping the Chamber website up-to-date. Efforts of this committee established the National Sierra Heritage Scenic Byway and The Wildflower Trail.

Coarsegold Chamber / Foothill Chamber /
Millerton Lake Area Chamber
These chambers were started under the auspices of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce in order to establish a membership base that will support the individual Chambers. Serving as affiliates, they actively participate in Clovis Chamber events and activities while maintaining their own identities.

Clovis Chamber News, The Voice of Business
The Voice of Business is a monthly newsletter with a circulation of over 30,000 throughout Clovis and the Fresno area. The newsletter supplies information to Chamber members but also reaches many residents’ households who participate in Chamber events.
