The city of Clovis operates under a council-manager form of government. Council members serve four-year terms with elections held every two years to fill open positions.
The council serves as the city’s main legislative body and is responsible for electing the mayor and the mayor pro-tem from among its members. The city council works closely with the city manager (responsible for administering city operations) to provide policy guidance.
The city of Clovis tends to its fiscal responsibility to its citizens. Recognizing the upcoming recession in 2007 it immediately took steps to address the downturn. Now, we have staff being rehired and receiving raises and a newly, rebuilt reserve account. The future looks bright in Clovis.
The city is proud to serve its residents and continuously strives to fulfill current needs while looking toward and preparing for the future.
