It has been an honor serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Clovis Chamber of Commerce. During the past year, I have worked with the Board of Directors and various committees to improve our already successful programs.
The mission of the Clovis Chamber is to create a successful economy. This has become even more important during these harsh economic times.
Through hard work by the staff, the Chamber networking programs have expanded. In addition to our Leads Clubs, Toastmasters, Speed and Virtual Networking, Lunch Bunch and the biannual Clovis Advantage Business Trade Shows, we offer mixers for Young Professionals and the Women Business Owners Roundtable.
There is a waiting list for members to host the Chamber mixers where more than 100 people attend monthly. During this slow economy, networking with fellow business people is paramount. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month.
The Clovis Chamber supports the entire community by presenting the largest two-day events in the Central Valley. BIG Hat Days in April, Clovis Motorsports Jamboree in May and ClovisFest in September bring a quarter million people to town. They in turn spend their money at local businesses.
To promote the Chamber and its events, the Chamber has a large presence on Twitter and Facebook, as well as through its website, www.clovischamber.com. Non-members are made aware of what the Chamber has to offer and many make the smart decision to join.
To protect our businesses, our advocacy team keeps an eye on legislation that may hurt the growth of our businesses. ClovisPAC and the Legislative Issues Committee endorse business friendly candidates and propositions.
The Clovis Chamber plays a major role in the success of the local economy and community development. If you are currently a member, we’re glad you made the decision to improve your business. If you’re not yet a member, please join. It’ll be a smart move.
