
Desert Hot Springs (located 112 miles east of Los Angeles in Riverside County) was incorporated in 1963.
The City is a charter city operating under the council-manager form of government, and a 20-member police department serves the City’s safety needs. Fire protection is currently contracted through Riverside County.
Major employers include Palm Springs Unified School District, City of Desert Hot Springs, Mission Springs Water District, Angel View Foundation, Miracle Springs Resort, Desert Hot Springs Spa, Agua Caliente Hotel, Kmart, Stater Brothers and Vons. Industrial land areas are currently in the area south of Hacienda Boulevard and east of Little Morongo Road.
A continuing influx of business and housing projects to the Desert Hot Springs area has resulted in Mission Springs Water District completing over nine hundred new water connections during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2006.
