Desert Hot Springs Education

Currently, the Palm Springs Unified School District operates four elementary schools, one middle school, one continuation school and a new $26 million state-of-the-art high school. With a full range of curricular and extra-curricular programs, Desert Hot Springs High School strives to empower all students to meet or exceed California State University entrance requirements.

Three private schools (Palm Springs Christian School, Community Children’s Center and Storyland Preschool) also serve the City, and several college and university campuses are within a 50-minute drive.

The passage of a recent Bond Measure will double the occupancy space and enable the high school to accommodate 2,200 to 2,400 students, supporting the accelerated growth that is taking place in Desert Hot Springs. The Bond Measure also made possible the construction of a brand new football stadium on the Desert Hot Springs High School campus.

Since 1995, Desert Hot Springs has been designated as a Groundwater Guardian Community. The Groundwater Guardian Program is a community education program designed to empower local citizens and communities to take voluntary steps toward protecting their groundwater resources. Desert Hot Springs High School had the distinction of being the nation’s first Groundwater Guardian Campus.

The Desert Hot Springs Library is a branch of the joint library system of the County of Riverside.
