For continuing education, Diamond Gateway residents have two excellent options close to home ó Miramar College (in the Mira Mesa/Scripps Ranch area) and Alliant International University (Scripps Ranch).
Miramar College offers certificates, associate degrees and comprehensive transfer programs for students transferring to state and private universities. The 140-acre campus serves 10,000 students per semester, and includes a computer business center, library, police academy, child development center and digital media lab. The new 32-acre athletic complex will include the largest aquatic facility in San Diego County. A science/technology center and advanced transportation center also are planned.
Miramar Collegeís acclaimed vocational programs partner with business and industry to give students up-to-date job skills and internship opportunities. The college is nationally recognized as the transportation studies center of California, and has industry partnerships with Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, Honda, United Airlines, Caterpillar and Hawthorne.
Alliant offers bachelorís, masterís and doctoral degrees in a wide range of fields. While most students attend AIU full-time, part-time programs and online study are offered as well. Its extensive course offerings attract students from a wide geographical area, creating a diverse student body. About one-third of AIUís students are from countries other than the U.S.
AIU offers an inviting 160-acre campus shaded by eucalyptus trees. Student amenities include computer labs, a sports center, dormitories and a performing arts theater. The campusí Walter Library houses the largest collection in the AIU system, which also has campuses in Alameda, Fresno, Irvine, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Mexico and Kenya.
Other universities in San Diego include the University of California at San Diego, San Diego State University and the University of San Diego.
