The communities of the I-15 Diamond Gateway are well developed, offering a thriving environment for business and industry. Although most of the area is “built out,” openings for new businesses still remain.
The City of San Diego Planning Department is always available to help businesses with expansion, relocation or other needs. The department works closely with officials of each community in the I-15 Diamond Gateway to ensure orderly growth and development.
Diamond Gateway employers enjoy the benefits of an exceptionally well-educated, well-trained workforce. More than half the communities’ residents have college educations, and the majority are employed as skilled professionals or work in management positions.
The Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar is one of the region’s largest employers, with 11,000 people working on base. The biotech industry is also well represented in the area, particularly in Mira Mesa. A few of the important employers in the Diamond Gateway include Hitachi, Intel and Mitchell Publishing — all of which have offices in Scripps Ranch.
Networking, development and promotion opportunities are provided through the I-15 Diamond Gateway Chamber of Commerce. By working closely with government officials, Chamber members remain well informed on matters of interest to their businesses, and have a voice in issues that affect them.
Ongoing Chamber programs offer members the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills. Members also benefit from member-to-member discounts, business referrals and Chamber-sponsored publicity. The Chamber is also an active partner in efforts to improve educational quality and student achievement, ensuring a well-trained workforce for the future
