As part of the city of San Diego, communities of the I-15 Diamond Gateway are protected by professionally trained emergency personnel around the clock. The Fire Department’s 1,200-plus personnel operate 44 fire stations, staff nine lifeguard stations and provide emergency medical services 24 hours a day. The Police Department, in addition to providing emergency service, also employs Community Oriented Policing to improve residents’ quality of life. This program includes revitalized block watch programs and citizens’ patrol groups, which alert officers to suspicious activity. Community Service Centers in Scripps Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch and Rancho Penasquitos provide a variety of city services in convenient, one-stop locations. Residents can visit the centers to pay municipal bills, access city reports and obtain information on city parks and activities, bus and trolley schedules, municipal jobs and community events.
