The years since its incorporation have seen Duarte develop from a primarily agricultural community into a flourishing urban one. The opening of a Wal-Mart store in 1996 created 300 new jobs in the city. In 1997, Accu-Sembly, Inc., an electronic parts assembly company, brought 85 technical jobs to Duarte. The Central Avenue Automobile Complex boasts some of the highest sales figures of new and used cars in the state and country.
Although Duarte remains a primarily residential community, the city’s pro-active development efforts make it an ideal place to locate or expand a business. The city takes pride in the attractive and balanced commercial developments found throughout the community.
Duarte is a special place for small ambitious companies. The reasons are clear – a location central to the entire Southern California basin, reasonable costs, a skilled labor pool, and business-friendly local government.
