Four cities and several contiguous communities together with six East County Chambers of Commerce have formed the East County Economic Development Council (ECEDC). Its purpose is to expand the primary employment base in the region. The East County EDC is recognized throughout San Diego County for its bank of accurate data, its focus on job development and the expansion of industrially zoned land. As the region has
grown, East County has become a financial powerhouse with dozens of financial
institutions ranging from major banks and credit unions to stock brokerages.
