The Fremont area features a variety of things to do and wonderful places to explore. Whatever your age or interests, there’s something to see in and around Fremont. Just a few examples include the annual Fremont Festival of the Arts during the first week in August; the Farmers Markets in Centerville and Irvington; Ardenwood Historic Farm and Patterson House; the Centerville Train Depot; the Shinn House; and the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton. Central Park and Lake Elizabeth offer walking and boating, among many activities.

In nearby Niles, every year on the first Saturday in June, visitors can experience Charlie Chaplin and Essanay Studio Day. The annual Niles Antique Fair offers vendors displaying antiques, collectibles, and miscellaneous flea market fare. The Ohlone College Super Flea Market also sells trinkets and treasures on Saturday mornings.

Old Mission San Jose and Museum features one of 21 historic Franciscan Missions, the only California mission in the East Bay. On the weekend nearest June 11 each year, a festival offers arts and crafts, ethnic cuisine, and mariachi music.

On the first weekend in August, the Annual Fremont Festival of the Arts is the premier event for music and art in the Bay Area. It is the largest outdoor, free festival in all of California and offers events and activities for people of all ages.
