A place where we live, work and play in a safe environment, full of opportunities for the community to engage in positive endeavors.
The city of Fresno Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Department (PARCS) offers a variety of outdoor venues for families, action sports enthusiasts, dog lovers and more! In addition to nearly 70 beautiful parks, including three dynamic regional parks, the city of Fresno is developing one of the most diverse action sports communities in California and new venues are on the way.
PARCS also provides a vast array of community programming that offers enriching components to serve youth, adults and seniors including leadership skills, character development, team building, technology training, science exploration, physical fitness, sports activities, life skills, environmental awareness, career exploration and more.
We have multiple community partners like AT&T, Comcast, Saint Agnes Medical Center, County Bank, REI and Lowe’s that share our vision and assist us in delivering many dynamic, life-changing programs and state of the art venues. Partnerships allow us to maximize our impact and reach a greater audience and we need ongoing community support to continue transforming Fresno into a destination.
All NEW in Woodward Park:
Completed in November of 2007, the Woodward Park Bike Complex is one of a kind. Featuring areas that serve beginners, intermediate and advanced riders and various bike styles, this park has a one-acre free ride bike area, a downhill BMX race track and a one-mile loop Skills Progression Mountain Bike trail that boasts 40 progressive table top jumps in a row. Specific amenities include high-speed downhill areas and technical obstacles that can help riders progress their skills. Visit www.woodwardmtbpark.com for details.
In addition, Woodward Park is now home to the first three shaded tot lots in the city of Fresno, which will allow children to enjoy physical activity without the risk of sun exposure or hot play equipment. PARCS will be shading more Fresno tot lots in 2008 and is working to establish shade as a standard feature in all new parks with children’s play areas.
