Chamber

Welcome to the Membership Directory and Buyer’s Guide for 2011. This is a vehicle that can both serve you and be of service to you as a Chamber member.

One of the great things about a Chamber of Commerce is the concept of members doing business with members. It is an effort we work on year-round, whether it is utilizing a printed directory, like this, tracking hits to individual businesses on our website and referring members, such as you, to people who inundate our telephone each day with the desire to know something about our community.

Research has shown that consumers prefer to do business with businesses who are Chamber members. Why? Because there is a trust factor that surrounds businesses that are active in community affairs and the Chamber association adds to that trust.

The Schapiro Group, a respected national research firm, conducted this study in 2007. It indicated that:

Sixty—three percent of consumers were more likely to buy goods and services from a company they believe is a Chamber of Commerce member.

Fifty—one percent were more aware and 57 percent were more likely to think positively of a business’s local reputation if those consumers are told that the business is a local Chamber member.

Chamber members have found it profitable to remain aggressive in their marketing efforts—especially in a down economy. Knowing the universe is smaller, Chamber members are aware they need to get a bigger piece of the pie. Continuing to be involved with the Chamber and the community helps toward that effort.

So, inside the pages of this book you will find the names and addresses of each and every member in the Chamber and Buyer’s Guide that can deliver goods and services for every business category. Based on the above research, checking here first and doing business with these companies will assure you of a high caliber of performance.

Also, it is always important to remember exactly what the core values of the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce are.

- To Promote a strong local economy

- To Provide opportunities to network and Build Relationships

- To Deliver programs to help businesses grow

- To Represent and advocate of behalf of the business community

- To enhance commerce through community stewardship

More than 1,300 businesses have banded together to maintain this Chamber. It might be easy to stop one—but not 1,300. Our coming together develops a strong voice for business in our community and helps determine its economic health. We are the primary trade organization for local businesses, while at the same time we enhance the quality of life in the great community in which we live.

Thank you for being a part of this effort.

Sincerely,

Al Smith
President & Chief Executive Officer
